
Maddie’s Fund® (www.maddiesfund.org) is a family foundation endowed by the founder of Workday® and PeopleSoft, Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl. Maddie’s Fund is helping to achieve and sustain a no-kill nation by providing solutions to the most challenging issues facing the animal welfare community through Maddie’s® grant giving and Maddie’s InstituteSM. Maddie’s Fund is named after the family’s beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed away in 1997.
Maddie’s® Treatable Assistance Program
Maddie’s®
Treatable Assistance Program is a new pilot program for adoption guarantee
organizations in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties to support
the adoptions of senior and/or medically treatable homeless dogs and cats
originating from animal control shelters in those counties.
Maddie’s®
Treatable Assistance Program provides adoption stipends of $700 per adoption of
medically treatable or senior dogs and cats transferred from
animal control shelters in Alameda, Contra Costa or San Francisco County and
$1,400 per adoption of medically treatable and senior dogs and
cats transferred from animal control shelters in Alameda, Contra Costa or San
Francisco County. The program began in October 2012 and will run through
December 31, 2013.
Maddie’s
Fund is piloting the subsidy program to give local shelters and rescues the
means to find more homes for vulnerable shelter pets, strengthen the
relationship between animal control shelters and adoption guarantee groups, and
shift some of the burden of responsibility for these pets away from cash-strapped
government agencies.
